Ryan Haskell

Music Designer/Arranger

Ryan Haskell is a composer, arranger, sound designer, and educator based in Idaho with over a decade of experience in the marching arts. His work spans marching band, indoor percussion, drum corps, WGI Winds, and concert percussion, specializing in productions that seamlessly integrate music, visual storytelling, and immersive electronic sound design.

Ryan currently serves on the creative and instructional staffs of numerous ensembles throughout the Pacific Northwest and Southern California as a front ensemble designer, electronics programmer, sound designer, and audio caption head. He currently serves as the Audio Caption Head and Sound Designer for Boise Gems Drum & Bugle Corps (ID), Boise Gems Independent Percussion (ID), Owyhee High School (ID), Nampa High School (ID), and Mountain View High School (ID). In Southern California, Ryan also serves as Program Coordinator and Music Designer/Arranger for the Caesar Chavez High School and Eleanor Roosevelt High School marching band and indoor concert percussion programs. His performance background includes Mission Viejo High School, Orange County Independent Percussion, Broken City Percussion, and Velocity Independent Percussion, providing a broad perspective that continues to shape his approach as both a designer and educator.

Recognized for his cinematic, detail-oriented approach to composition and sound design, Ryan is passionate about crafting emotionally compelling programs that connect performers and audiences alike. His writing emphasizes rich orchestration, impactful pacing, and innovative electronic textures while maintaining a strong commitment to educational value and performer achievement. Whether designing for an emerging ensemble or a nationally competitive program, Ryan believes every production should provide a meaningful artistic experience while giving students the tools to grow as musicians and performers.

As a collaborative designer, Ryan enjoys working closely with directors and instructional staffs to develop productions uniquely tailored to each ensemble’s identity, strengths, and competitive goals. His design philosophy balances artistic innovation with achievable excellence, creating programs that are both rewarding to perform and memorable to experience.
